I agree with the sentiment that it makes no sense for him to step down but I guess he felt he cannot be a present emperor so someone else has to be present since he will be going to the upper realm soon. Which might take him years before coming back to the lower realms, he could have appointed him as a temporary emperor… like when an emperor is too young to rule and someone helps him, he could have appointed him in that sort of manner. I don’t blame people who still refer to MC as The Emperor, I would also only acknowledge him as such if I was in their shoes.

I didn’t like this part in the novel either. Don’t get why he needs to abdicate, no doubt Qingfeng is a great brother but he’s a weakling. All SH wanted was to cultivate and up his strength, he can do that by delegating the running of the kingdom to all his ministers. It gets so confusing and redundant later when they still refer to SH as the emperor despite the fact that Qingfeng has officially acceded the throne.

Not sure if they will change that in the donghua but if they do, it will definitely reduce the impact when SH dies fighting for his kingdom. His victory and death was the most momentous event in the history of the lower realm. It also solidifies Stone Kingdom as the powerhouse of the lower realm because no one could achieve what SH did: killing deity level opponents which is at least 2 levels higher than his current level. His death was such a pageantry, all the big shots came and paid their last respect to the most illustrious emperor of Stone Kingdom.

** This is where I thought the author should have let SH die as the reigning emperor and Qingfeng should only accede the throne after his death.

They shouldn't even let him die, makes no sense to me. I don't read the novel because if i do, i won't be able to watch the anime.
